Flying Dolphin. The flying Dolphin evokes a childlike wonder in the eye of the beholder. Not including the foam-fingered few found on the streets of Miami, these aquatic aviators – like the ones gliding through Octavian Fitzherbert’s maritime ecard – who peruse the straits of the Amazon and the coastal coves of Cornwall, are sure to make your heart soar.
Octavian Fitzherbert is an Irish artist. His work is sketchy and imaginative, at once brilliant and bizarre. He was awarded a much coveted place at The National Drawing School after school and then went on to attain a BA in Fine Art from The National College of Art and Design, Ireland. After that he made the move into animation. It’s a well suited medium to his approach, which is often inspired by fairytales, meandering, obscure and hilarious. All well within the feasible with animation.
George Grinling’s music evokes a contemporary orchestral sound. It’s avant-garde and fun, whilst maintaining a nostalgic texture. His sound is fundamentally a collage of the music that has influenced him throughout his life. From classical and pop, to electronic and jazz. He started writing music at a young age, but for his ambition to really flourish he dedicated a chunk of his life to teaching himself the fundamentals of composition, before continuing his studies as a protégé under some prominent composers in London. Simultaneously George found success in his electronic music explorations as part of THOOL, a band that gives him a parallel vocation, where he experiments with off-beat, off-the-wall compositional soundscapes.
