Flower Bop. In the bashful Britain of the early 19th century, the value of ‘floriography’ – the language of flowers – soared as a coded means for giving light to the funky, fruity, or fraught feelings that lay beneath the surface. This floral ecard – the creation of brother’s Noah (artist) and Ben (composer) Bavonese – is an invitation to let the flowers do the talking.
Noah Bavonese is an animator based in Vancouver, Canada. Though he is originally from Michigan, USA. His work is very carefully put together, with many layers contributing to the final look. The way he balances all of these elements in harmony within the frame highlights his background in graphic design. When it comes to movement, he has reached a point in his craft where he makes it look easy. A hard place to reach. He’s most at home with bold colours, sharp contemporary lines, and swish movement.
Ben Bavonese was encouraged by his twin brother, Noah, who works at the prestigious animation studio Giant Ant, to pursue a life in sound design. His musical grounding comes from spending years transcribing the masters of jazz by ear. He took the same approach sound design, learning by doing, emulating his favourite artists. Alongside his compositions for animation, he is in a jazz and R&B band in Chicago. That energy feeds into his compositions, which are fresh, impeccably produced, and make use of well chosen samples combined with layered melodics.
