Breast Friends. Big or little, rambunctious or reserved, intricate or versatile, budding or venerable. Just like with boobs, the finest friends come in all shapes and sizes. Wonderful because they are wonky. However, just like the pair in this bountiful ecard from Angelica Lena and Ben Bavonese, both friends and boobs need a regular squeeze to check that everything is okay. This card was created during Breast Cancer Awareness month to highlight the importance of self-checks.
Angelica Lena is an Italian animator and illustrator. Originally from Rome, Angelica studied in London at Central St Martin’s where she developed her handcrafted illustrative style and experimented with moving image. Her work is notable for its use of colour and playful attitude which leave a distinct and memorable impression. She recently received funding from the Greek Government to make a short animated film exploring issues surrounding the refugee crisis. The film premiered at the prestigious Drama Film Festival and is currently making its way around the festival circuit.
Ben Bavonese was encouraged by his twin brother, Noah, who works at the prestigious animation studio Giant Ant, to pursue a life in sound design. His musical grounding comes from spending years transcribing the masters of jazz by ear. He took the same approach sound design, learning by doing, emulating his favourite artists. Alongside his compositions for animation, he is in a jazz and R&B band in Chicago. That energy feeds into his compositions, which are fresh, impeccably produced, and make use of well chosen samples combined with layered melodics.
